A Word About Our Linens
In order to provide you with the widest selection of colors and weights, we have sourced our linen with different methods of dye and finishes (stock dyes, custom dyes, and crisp finishes). Initially, the assorted colors and weights may feel different to you. However, once you machine wash and machine dry your linen items, they will all develop a soft, buttery texture. In fact, the more you wash this linen, the softer and more wrinkle resistant it gets!
Hanky Weight - 3.5 oz. Slightly sheer, yet strong. Fantastic for hot weather, either humid or dry. A little sheer, so depending on the garment and your personal modesty concerns, you may want to wear it with an undergarment.
Hanky Weight, cross dye - 3.5 oz. All the same characteristics as regular solid color hanky weights, but warp and weft yarns are of two different colors, which gives it a more dimensional appearance.
Medium Weight - 5.3 oz. This is a thicker fabric, with coarser yarns, and a bit more open weave. Works equally well for tops, jackets or pants. It has more of a soft - cottony feel too it once laundered
Luxury Weave - 7.1 oz. We are so excited by this new quality of linen we have found from a new resource. Although the individual yarns in this weave are fine and smooth, they are packed very closely together, making this the most opaque of the 3 weights. It is also the most durable. Despite the heavier weight, it feels as light and airy as the hanky weight, breathing just as well, but without the sheerness. It has a slightly crisper hand than the Medium Weight...similar to an Irish Linen.
Rustic Weave - 7.1 oz. (or Winter Weight linen). Although technically the weight is the same as the luxury weave, the rustic weave has a more textured look and feel, due to it being a looser weave but with fatter yarns that have natural variations in thickness. Once laundered, it becomes soft and cotton-y, with a sueded feel to it, and a good heavy drape. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance. Great for pants and jackets especially, but not limited to those items.
Most clothing styles can be made in any of these weights, although we don't recommend Hanky Weight for pants.
