🌿 Knit Fabrics

  • KnitFabric.com – Our supplier for cotton/spandex jersey colors. We use their "Solid Essentials". They also carry a wide array of knits, including prints, specialty knits, and hard-to-find fibers such as linen and wool knits. Also of note: they have a nice selection of UV50 swimsuit fabrics in both solids and prints.
  • Stylish Fabric – A good source of lightweight fabrics, especially knits.
  • Nature's Fabrics – Lovely selection of mostly knits (some organic), including unusual fibers such as hemp, bamboo, and Tencel β€” along with cotton, linen, and wool.
  • Nick of Time Textiles – Budget-friendly source for various knits and wovens β€” but ALWAYS order a swatch first. Photos and descriptions are often inaccurate, but you can find great deals.

πŸƒ Linen & Natural Wovens

  • Gray Line Linen – High-quality linen in dozens of colors. We use their "Judy Linen" as our medium-weight option, and also their handkerchief-weight linen. They consistently stock the same reliable colors.
  • Fabrics-Store.com – Linen in rotating fashion colors. IL019 (5.3 oz) is a medium weight; IL020 (3.7 oz) is handkerchief weight.
  • Fabric Wholesale Direct – Very good resource for base, solid-color fabrics of all sorts. They also carry some prints and specialty fabrics. Their Yorkshire 6.7 oz linen makes wonderful pants that last forever.

🎨 Batiks & Specialty Prints

  • Sew Batik – A woman-owned treasure. If you love batik fabrics and gorgeous colors, this is your batik Shangri-La. Beautiful batik motifs on a variety of high-quality fabrics: cotton sheeting, 100% cotton jersey, viscose jersey, rayon challis, linen, and now corduroy too. (We don’t recommend the canvas weight for apparel β€” it's better suited for home furnishings.) Our personal favorites are the cotton jersey, rayon challis, and linen.

✨ Dressy & Designer Fabrics

  • Blue Moon Fabrics – Excellent source for higher-end, dressy stretch fabrics with sparkle, shine, and texture. Also carries swimwear options.
  • NY Designer Fabric – Shop here for all your silk needs and other fine apparel fabrics.

πŸ–οΈ Swimwear Fabrics

  • Spandex by Yard – Our go-to supplier for swimsuit fabrics. They offer over 60 solid colors, plus a great selection of prints.
  • Spandex World – All things swimwear, including holograms, foils, sequins, and more.
  • KnitFabric.com – (listed above) Also offers UV50-rated swimwear knits in a variety of solid and printed styles.

🧡 Budget-Friendly Sources

  • Nick of Time Textiles – (Also listed above) Great prices, but inconsistent photos and descriptions. Always order swatches first.
  • Fashion Fabrics Club & Denver Fabrics – (Same company) Wide selection of budget-friendly options and frequent sales β€” but buyer beware: descriptions may be inaccurate, shipping is slow, and customer service is hit-or-miss. Always order swatches if time allows. If not, it’s smart to have a backup plan. Also note: when they say lightweight, they mean it. Their "medium weight" is more like light.
