Choosing fabric doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you’re shopping online or using fabric you already have, we’ll guide you toward materials that work beautifully for each style 
— and help you avoid common pitfalls.

Fabric Basics

1. Yardage Requirements

Each style requires a different amount of fabric depending on the design and your size. Please refer to the Yardage Chart for each style before purchasing fabric.

General info:

• 58/60” wide fabric (most common):

Most tops and pants can be made with 3 yards.

4 yards will cover nearly all styles, except for fuller dresses.

2. Fabric Types

Fabrics generally fall into three categories:

• Woven (non-stretch)
• Knit (stretchy)
• Stretch-woven (woven with slight stretch due to spandex content)

Knit Fabrics — Accepted:

• Jersey, interlock*, double-knit, pique, rib knit*, Ponte, thermal*, pointelle, waffle knit*, sweater knits
• Cotton, bamboo, poly, rayon, viscose, wool, silk blends
• Swimwear: Nylon/spandex or poly/spandex (patterns are optimized for nylon/spandex)

Not recommended: ITY knit (100% poly – thin and prone to puckering/snags)

*Note: Interlock, rib, thermal, and waffle knits may “grow” with wear. Ask us about style/sizing.

Woven Fabrics — Accepted:

• Cotton: Broadcloth, poplin, canvas, chambray, quilting cotton, voile, twill, sateen*
• Linen & linen blends (3.5 oz “hanky” to 8 oz)
• Rayon challis, rayon crepe
• Tencel twill
• Light to midweight wool
• Stretch suiting blends (poly/rayon/spandex)
• Silk: Dupioni, shantung, suiting
• Denim (up to 10 oz)

May require a time surcharge — please contact us first:

• Sateen* (seam puckering)
• Slippery fabrics: Charmeuse, chiffon
• Sequined or embellished fabrics
• Glitter fabrics (foil & hologram okay)
• Upholstery or quilted fabrics
• Heavily textured or very thick fabrics

3. Fabric Condition

To avoid delays or handling fees, your fabric must be:

• Uncut and in one continuous piece
• Clean and free of stains, odors, or damage
• Neatly folded (excessively wrinkled fabric may incur a pressing fee)

If you're having fabric shipped from a store, forward the order confirmation to janelle@loveyourpeaches.com.
You can use USPS, UPS, or FedEx.

Please do not ship fabric before your order is confirmed.
